I love this album. Though you can tell that both Elton and Bernie were burning out by this point. Even so, I think this album is good! I do think a couple of songs could have had a little trimming down (Bite Your Lip and Boogie Pilgrim to name 2)

Bite Your Lip to me would have been a "great" song if they maybe added another verse and maybe shortened the ending part. I guess they wanted it to be a "disco meets gospel" rave-up!

Anyways, here are my ratings.

1) Your Starter For.... ***
2) Tonight *****
3) One Horse Town ****
4) Chameleon *****
5) Boogie Pilgrim **
6) Cage The Songbird *****
7) Crazy Water *****
Image Sholder Holster ****
9) Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word *****
10) Out of The Blue ****
11) Between 17 & 20 ****
12) The wide eyed and Laughing ***
11) Someone's Final Song *****
12) Where's The Shorrah? **
13) If There's A God In Heaven ***
14) Idol ****
15) Theme From A Non-Existent TV Series *****
16) Bite Your Lip (Get Up And Dance) *****

Definately True Ian. What I like about BYL(GUAD) is the tasty slide work by Davey. Plus Ray's conga playing.

Yeah exactly!

Also notice the Captain & Tenille Influence on "Crazy Water" --- of course Daryl Dragon arranged the vocals on that track.

But if you can find it and just for ha has, compare "Crazy Water" with the background low vocals on Captain and Tenille's "Can't Stop Dancin'".

I'm not sure which came out first though. I think "Crazy Water" might have but I'm not positive.

BTW, was "Crazy Water" and/or "Bite Your Lip" major singles off this album? (chart-wise)

I know they were singles in the US/UK resepectivally, but how did those songs do in the carts.

I used to have the Bite Your Lip single btw. Too bad the edited version hasn't come out on CD yet.

The Bite Your Lip! 45 7" is a great single. I just wish that after it was written, EJ had gone back to BT and asked for a new set of lyrics. Anything would have been better, but at least they inspired a great record. I also have the fulllength version of that great 7" mix, on a promo 12".

BM is a great summing up of everything from 1968-76, combining the pop and rock sound of the mid 70s with the dark, moody Buckmaster period.
