This is one of my least favorite Elton's album and unfortuanly one of the first of his albums I bought.

1. Dear John ***
2. Spiteful Child ***
3. Ball And Chain ***
4. Legal Boys ***
5. I am Your Robot **
6. Blue Eyes *****
7. Empty Garden ****1/2
8. Princess ***
9. Where Have All Good Times Gone ****
10. All Quiet On The Western Front **1/2
BONUS:
11. Hey Papa Legba **1/2
12. Take Me Down To The Ocean ****

Whole album sounds to me like Elton took some b-sides from somewhere and make album of them. Still it is ok album.

Beautiful album, once again I am totally bias.

1. Dear John 10/10-Awesome.
2. Spiteful Child 10/10-Heck, I wanted to kill the child with Elton after I listened to the song.
3. Ball And Chain 10/10-Yeah, it took some time to get used to.
4. Legal Boys 11/10-Should have been a single.
5. I am Your Robot 3/10-I'm too confused by it.
6. Blue Eyes 8/10-Good deep vocals.
7. Empty Garden 10/10-Perfectly done.
8. Princess 10/10-His voice could have been better, but who cares, it's a beautiful love song.
9. Where Have All Good Times Gone 10/10-Should have been a single.
10. All Quiet On The Western Front 10/10-It might be too long, but who cares.
BONUS:
11. Hey Papa Legba 9/10-He sings so darn quick.
12. Take Me Down To The Ocean 10/10-I thought it was going to be the sequel to Take Me to the Pilot, but it isn't and it's well done.

1. Dear John **** Simply better than his two previous opening rockers.

2. Spiteful Child *** Nice song, generic.

3. Ball & Chain *** Also nice but generic, so it lacks speciality.

4. Legal Boys ** Weirdo.

5. I Am Your Robot *** Maybe too crazy, but rocks really hard in the end. Yea and I remember the serial number really well. Image

6. Blue Eyes **** Really moving song, he got great voice in this one.

7. Empty Garden **** Sad song, I just think the melody doesn't give justice for the lyrics.

8. Princess *** Nice song.

9. Where Have All The Good Times Gone? *** Uptempo, should rock more.

10. All Quiet On The Western Front *** Beautiful, but boring.

Huh... for some reason, this reminds me a bit of 21 at 33, except more upbeat. The problem with this album is that songs like "Dear John," "Spiteful Child" and "Ball N' Chain" are good at first, however, they get old somewhat fast. Those are the more simple songs on the album. The first is a nice rocker, the second is another rocker with a catchy intro and instrumental part. The third is an acoustic guitar-oriented pop song, very upbeat.

"Legal Boys" starts out as a melancholy, great ballad and goes through many different movements, and has a swift, soaring chorus. It turns itself into a rocker at several points. It goes in many different directions. It's pretty dramatic and entertaining. "I Am Your Robot" has potential to be a great rocker, but the repetitive chorus and not-very-good lyrics kinda stop it from going further. "Blue Eyes" is a great slow song, a ballad that sounds like it's meant for slow dancing with Elton singing lower vocals than usual. "Empty Garden," in my opinion, is the best song on the album, moving, powerful (musically and lyrically,) has an amazing melody, amazing instrumentation, and is just a dang good song. I've always liked "Princess," a beautiful love song with lots of pop elements. However, it doesn't get old as easily as some of the other pop songs on the album. "Where Have all the Good Times Gone" has more of a serious, though at times fun feel. It has the squishy cushion texture supplied by a wurlitzer electric piano. It has a great melody, and an orchestral backing.

"All Quiet on the Western Front" is a great song, a slow song, though it has sad lyrics, the music has more of a happy feel somehow. It's hard to describe. The chord structure of the verse is very similar to a song he would release 13 years later called "Man" from the "Made in England" album.

1. Dear John 3.5/5

2. Spiteful Child 3.5/5

3. Ball 'n' Chain 4/5

4. Legal Boys 4.5/5

5. I Am Your Robot 2.5/5

6. Blue Eyes 4.5/5

7. Empty Garden 5/5

8. Princess 4/5

9. Where Have all the Good Times Gone? 4.5/5

10. All Quiet on the Western Front 4/5
