Is it time for a new hits album? Whether we like them or not, Elton greatest hits albums sell very well. A quick glance at sales figures reveal that most of them have gone multi-platinum...even Love Songs from '95. The last one released was Rocket Man-Definitive Hits in 2007 which was top 10 and multi-platinum. Early next year Elton will be 70, and 2017 marks 10 years since the last hits album. He hasn't had many hits since, but a re-tooling of the hits from 1970-2017 would seem fair. It could be done in Volumes, it could be completely random, etc. If it were done in Volumes, the newest volume could have a couple of new tunes perhaps. These hits packages should include ALL his hits, not just the biggest ones. For example, some people have asked us (we run an online shop), for the Aretha Franklin duet "Through the Storm" which made it to #16 on the Top 100. Another way to do it would be to group the volumes as such: ELTON JOHN: The Rockers / ELTON JOHN: Love Ballads / ELTON JOHN: The Duets / ELTON JOHN: Fantastic Live / etc. etc. etc. There should be around 15 songs on each volume for disc. Now of course alot of US wouldn't buy these, cuz we already have 'em, right. But if you did them right and had real artwork and graphics and photos, it could be great for the casual fan. After all isn't this what his career is about now? Pleasing the casual fan or winning over non fans? If more people than not want hits....give 'em what they want...in concert and on disc. Give 'em the hits and more....ALL OF 'EM!
