In my book, it's always a good time to find out, as there can never be enough Elton original studio albums -- that's what will keep building his legacy (more than yet another live performance of the hits etc.) So, as I periodically ask, has anyone heard anything at all about when Elton will go back into the studio to write and record the next new album? Anything at all for 2017?
My wish is always for a new studio album with Paul Buckmaster orchestral strings, real acoustic instruments, amazing piano, inspired beautiful melodies, with great cinematic Bernie story-song lyrics (not the WCN kind but more like Madman or Honky Chateau, Skyline Pigeon or Ballad of the Boy in the Red Shoes for a more recent example). Would be great to see lovely harmonies, a gospel influence, unpredictable real drum fills (like at the end of Curtains), and an occasional growing crescendo of a choir (think the end of All the Nasties). Ok, back to earth. But that would be my ideal.
I'm still hopeful he has a few left in him over these next few years. What have we heard?
